Frequently Asked Questions

  • As long as weather conditions permit, the trip will run with as few as 1 individual booked. If the weather forecast shows unfavorable biking conditions all of which are listed in the safety packet, we will ask riders to reschedule for a different date. We want our riders to enjoy a safe comfortable ride which is why we will ask the riders to choose a different tour date given heavy rain, lightning, unsafe AQI, or an unsafe heat index.

  • Groups can be as little as 1 person or as large as 8 people.

  • We will provide sunscreen and water for ever rider at each rest stop. Full meals will be provided for each rider throughout the trip. Each trip is different, the trip itineraries lay out all meals that will be provided. Our support vehicle will pick up riders in the event that they or their bikes are unable to make it to the end destination. The rider will be given the choice of getting driven to the destination or back to Chicago.

  • Yes. Every trip will drop riders off back at original meet up point with their luggage and bikes.

  • Road bikes or gravel bikes are what should be used for the trips. Mountain bikes, triathlon bikes, hybrid bikes, single speed bikes, should not be used on these trips. The tire size recommended is 28-32cm tires. The tires that come with your bike are not always the best, consider upgrading to avoid getting flats. Gatorskin and Panaracer are both great options.

  • Yes. All dietary restrictions will be accommodated for as long as the ride leader is notified in advance of the start date. We take allergies very seriously and encourage any EpiPens or inhalers to be brought on the ride.

  • Both paved road surfaces and smooth gravel bike trails will be part of most routes. Take a look at the specific trip for a detailed breakdown of surface type.  

  • We encourage you to complete a longer rides between 30-50 miles before going on a green path pedals trip. This will help your body get used to sitting on a saddle for multiple hours.

  • Your ride leader will be equipped with a multitool and hand pump to help you replace the tube given the proper protocol listed in the safety packet.  Reminder that all riders should come prepared with a spare tube that fits their tires.

  • Your ride leader should be able to do minor repairs such as putting your bike chain back on if it falls off and making slight adjustments to your brake pads. For other more serious repairs if the rider is unable to safely ride their bike, the support vehicle will pick up the rider.

  • The safety packet will be used to determine the severity of the injury and the proper steps to take. If the rider is severely hurt 911 will be called or the support vehicle will pick up the rider and take them to the hospital. In less severe incidents, the support vehicle contains a first aid packet that can be used to bandage the rider, at which point it is up to the discretion of the rider if they choose to continue the ride.
