Itinerary
Day 1
Departure
Bikers will be asked to arrive at the meet-up location at 7am on Saturday morning with everything they need for the ride. Check our packing list for more details on what to pack. Riders’ bags will be loaded up into the vehicle while the riders apply sunscreen provided by our team.
Before rolling out, your guide will conduct a morning brief to review the 85 mile route, safety protocols and address any concerns or preferences among the riders.
Rest Stops
A rest stop will be scheduled for every 15 miles, but this increment is often adjusted based on the fatigue of riders, the weather conditions, and the need for any bathroom breaks. The riders have full say of how often rest stops are made to ensure everyone has a comfortable and safe ride. The team will visit the Onan's Gold Pyramid House, a striking six-story-tall pyramid covered in gold.
Lunch
A nutritious lunch will be provided featuring sandwiches, fresh fruit, and refreshing beverages. The team will fill up water and re-apply sunscreen before hopping back on their bikes.
Arrival in Lake Geneva
Your bags will be waiting for you at the Geneva Wells Inn, where you can shower and change before dinner. Riders will enjoy a barbecue with tasty burgers and brats, and alternative options will be provided for those with special dietary needs.
Day 2
Beach and Kayaks
After breakfast at the hotel, your tour guide will lead you to the beach, where you can either kayak or simply relax and soak up the sun. You'll also have time to wander through the charming downtown shops and indulge in ice cream.
Apple Barn Orchard and Winery
Head to the Apple Barn for a delightful day of seasonal apple or strawberry picking, followed by a stop at their bakery. Don't forget to bring your ID for the wine tasting; they often feature live music and are very family-friendly!
Return to Chicago
After lunch, get driven back to Chicago. You'll arrive between 4-5pm on Sunday, and you'll be able to collect your bike and bags from the drop off location.
What to Expect
You'll traverse primarily paved flat terrain including suburban areas and the Wisconsin countryside. Expect southward winds along the lake, so be prepared to experience some headwinds during your ride.
This tour is ideal for intermediate cyclists looking for a weekend getaway. Those who are comfortable biking moderate distances and sharing the road with cars would be the best fit for this trip. When booking, riders will have the ability to select the speed that best fits them. Keep in mind the longer the distance the slower the pace you should select.
